Use interdimensional travel to go back in time and help yourself harvest energy from a time anomaly before it explodes.

A game create in 4 days for "Clicker Jam Winter 2023"
.

About Game:

Interdimensional Inc, tries to overcome the energy crisis by shooting laser beams at a space/time anomaly, but it becomes unstable and is only 3 minutes away from exploding.

Your mission is to get enough energy to repair the anomaly and save the day, the problem is that 3 minutes is not enough time.

Luckily, you can travel interdimensionally, go back in time to help you, and thus save the day.

A simple and short game, created for the Jam, I have tried to take care of the experience, trying to make the game have an ending, this is not normal in this genre, but having so little development time, I hope it fulfills its mission.

How to play:

The game has a small manual that is displayed when you start playing, it is best that you read it.

But in summary:

On the right side you have 3 buttons.

- The one in the middle is to open the door and start harvesting energy.

- The bottom one is used to close the door, you can't harvest, but you can buy upgrades.

- The one above allows you to travel in time to help you.

- Time only decreases when the door is open.

- Closing the door consumes energy, the more times you close the door, the more energy you will need to close it.

- The anomaly gives twice as much energy in the center, but only half as much at the edges.

- Each laser shot has a time and area, if you shoot a second laser that overlaps the first, you will receive less energy, so you must move the cursor between shots.

Depending on which upgrades you buy and how you use interdimensional travel it is possible to finish the game without dying, but it took me several tries. I hope the game isn't frustrating, but it's not too easy either, however given the short time for testing, it's hard to tell how difficult or easy the game currently is.

Quite original and interesting concept. Also quite difficult and frustrating.

Thank you very much for trying it and for your comment.

It turned out to be quite a bit more difficult than I anticipated.

I do have some clicker game experience, although I like to call them incremental or idle games. This is not an idle game.

What surprised me, was, that you managed to introduce a meaningful way of making the clicks important. If that is an original idea, I am impressed. Although my mouse hates you.

I did not have the energy to find the optimal upgrade strategy. I was some 5k short while having the 10k storage on best try. (Too little idle and incremental ;-)

Thanks for playing and for your comments.

You are absolutely right, the game does not have the "idle" component, as it was for a week long JAM, I thought it would be better if it was a short game with an ending.

To be honest, I didn't expect it to be played after the JAM and so I haven't fixed some suggestions that were made to me. The game has quite a few things that can be fixed.

Again, thanks for playing.

Oh, it is an interesting take on the genre. To put it in perspective, I am a "veteran" of games like cookie clicker, clicker heroes,  idle champions,  and several less known so called clickers. Your's would cover the beginning phase, where active clicking does help. After repairing the thingy, there would be the meta warp, making  it easier  and so on.

I did not encounter any bugs that needed fixing. Other than it being a clicker game (That was my mouse typing)

Wow it was not clear to me at all how to use Warps initially. Haven't been able to win yet. Might exceed my capacity for frustration.

One of the fears I had was precisely that the mechanics were not well understood.

I will try to explain it with an example.

You start the game, open the door and click on the anomaly to generate energy.

Let's say you shoot for 10 seconds, that is, the counter goes from 3 minutes to 2:50 minutes.

In those 10 seconds, you took out about 500 energy points.

If you close the door, you can't warp, your timer is 2:50 and you have 500 energy to buy upgrades

But if instead of closing the door, you use the warp button, you would have returned to the past, the timer is now again 3 minutes.

The energy returns to 0, but in the anomaly you will see the clicks you made in the previous dimension, those clicks are again gaining energy.

You can make new clicks, which will be added to the clicks before you used the warp.

You close the door after 10 seconds, the timer is back to 2:50, so the anomaly only corrupted for 10 seconds, but instead of 500, you now have 1000 energy.

The goal of the game is to find the optimal strategy that allows you to fix the anomaly, with the added difficulty that not all clicks give the same energy, if you click too close together, you suffer a penalty and the closer to the center, the more energy you earn .

I wish the game was neither frustrating nor a walk in the park, but polishing a game well takes more time and this game was created in a few days for the jam

Is there a way to re-read the intro manual? It continues way too quickly. Just put a "Continue" button and let me read at my own pace!

Thanks for trying the game.

I have updated the game, added a "next" button and now the instructions do not advance automatically
